Friday, May 1, was Safari on the Quad day. Beginning at 3pm, adorable animals were out and about for students to interact with on the quad. There were snacks for both students and their furry friends.

 

The JBU cinema students hosted a screening for the senior films on Sunday, May 3,  in the Berry Performing Arts Center at 7pm. The screening featured four films by five of the cinema students. Over one hundred people attended the event. People were encouraged to vote online for their best film.

Juniors and seniors got time to relax away from campus at the Junior-Senior Banquet on Saturday, April  25 at the Arkansas Air and Military Museum in Fayetteville.The theme of this year was 1940s USO Swing Dance. Dinner was provided by MarketPlace Grill. Mr. JBU, Jedidiah Spurgeon, and Mrs. JBU,  Cori Hunt, were crowned during the event .

The Next Big Thing, JBU’s singing competition, took place on Saturday, April 18 at 7pm in the cathedral. There were six acts and they performed two of their original songs. These acts included Thin Margins, Molly Devine, IV, SparkNotes, to name but a few. The judges viewed each act and the audience voted on the winner. Molly Devine emerged as the winner of the competition and she received a recording package.

Aleah Eldridge’s senior worship arts presentation, Still I Will Sing, took place on Wednesday, April 15  at 7:30pm in the Berry Performing Arts Center. The performance was free and featured a journey through Psalms featuring scripture and music.

JBU’s annual event Spy vs Spy, a game where people shoot each other with water guns, started on Monday, April 13-17.The cost was one dollar. Students received their target’s name and water gun in their mailboxes before the game officially started. Alan Sloan, a freshman and Digital Cinema student, emerged as the winner of Spy vs Spy 2015.

JBU’s entertainment organization, Blu, hosted a coffeehouse on Friday, April 10, at 7pm in the Cathedral plaza. The event was free and there was coffee and chai along with the musical group Lazer and Levi for musical entertainment.

Lent reflections took place on Wednesday, April 8th, from 9:30-10:30pm. In a discussion led by Tracy Balzer, students were given the opportunity to look back on their lent commitments and reflect on the gift of salvation.
